# Can I replace a part myself without risk, or do I need a professional?

Some parts are easy to change yourself, others require particular precautions. Here's how to tell the difference.
**Generally safe to replace yourself:** rollers, seals, locks and handles, remote controls and receivers.

**To handle with care:** torsion and extension springs (under permanent tension); cables; the opener (electrical connection and limit setting adjustment).
