# How do I identify the right seal for my garage door (bottom, side, lintel)?

A sectional garage door generally has **four seal locations**, each with its own reference.

### The four types of seal

* **The bottom seal** — fitted under the last panel, in contact with the ground. It's the most heavily used and most often replaced.
* **The side seals** — along the jambs, on the sides of the door.
* **The lintel seal** — at the top, against the garage lintel.
* **The threshold seal** — on the ground; it's not fitted on every door.

### How to measure it
For Novoferm, Hörmann, Tubauto and Normstahl doors, depending on the model, there are pre-defined seals and others sold by the metre; in that case you need to order the length that matches the width of your door.
The shape of the fixing lip varies by make, model and year.

**And then?** Tell us the location (bottom / side / lintel), the make of your door and a photo of the profile: we'll help you identify the exact reference to order.

> **The habit that helps:** a photo of the seal in cross-section (seen end-on) immediately shows its profile, often more useful than a description.
