How do I identify the right seal for my garage door (bottom, side, lintel)?
A sectional garage door generally has four seal locations, each with its own reference.
The four types of seal
- The bottom seal — fitted under the last panel, in contact with the ground. It's the most heavily used and most often replaced.
- The side seals — along the jambs, on the sides of the door.
- The lintel seal — at the top, against the garage lintel.
- The threshold seal — on the ground; it's not fitted on every door.
How to measure it
For Novoferm, Hörmann, Tubauto and Normstahl doors, depending on the model, there are pre-defined seals and others sold by the metre; in that case you need to order the length that matches the width of your door.
The shape of the fixing lip varies by make, model and year.
And then? Tell us the location (bottom / side / lintel), the make of your door and a photo of the profile: we'll help you identify the exact reference to order.
The habit that helps: a photo of the seal in cross-section (seen end-on) immediately shows its profile, often more useful than a description.
